Rosie is passionate about getting young people involved in both classical music and composition. This passion was sparked when she attended the Sound and Music Summer School as a teenager. See below for some of the projects Rosie has worked on.
Funding and Producing
Rosie has given talks and spoken on panels about funding, producing and freelancing at South and City College Birmingham and for organisations such as Work In Progress to name a few.
In August 2013 & August 2014 Rosie attended the Sound and Music Summer School as a Runner. This unique summer school gives teenagers the opportunity to work with tutors and musicians to create a piece in less than a week. Rosie had attended the school as a student a few years ago and enjoyed encouraging others where she had been encouraged. As a Runner she helped organise the day to day running the tutor group Advanced Instrumental Composition and assisted the tutor David Horne, as well as giving compositional advice to the students. This experience was invaluable as Rosie got to share her knowledge and ideas with the students.
BCMG Resolution CPD
In August 2012, Rosie attended a BCMG CPD course based on teaching composition both in a classroom and a workshop setting. This opened her eyes and got her thinking about different ways to teach composition and some of the issues she may face.
Introduction to the Accordion
Rosie has conducted workshops introducing the Accordion to different age groups, such as undergraduates at Birmingham Conservatoire and toddlers at the Rainbow Montessori nursery.
Early Years Music Course
In July 2013, Rosie attended The Big Early years Music Event at the Colston Hall run by BEYMP.
